My India Trip 2016

It takes more than a day to go to India on airplane. We flew on Singapore Airlines, which I did not like very much! I did not like the food served on the plane or the entertainment. But, I liked the gardens in Singapore Changi airport. The garden had beautiful orchids and trees, butterflies, fish and pathway to the center of the lake. Next time I want to fly by Emirates because they have good food, good entertainment and a big flight.

In Kerala, we spent 2 days on a boat house to experience life on backwaters. When traveling through backwaters, we saw paddy fields, palm trees, flowers, birds, fishermen, fishing boats and small villages that were all beautiful. The chef cooked for us rice, idli, rasam, sambar, roti, curries, and puttu and I liked everything but puttu. We had no cellular connection or television. We played card games, board games, word games, and paper boats. It was fun being on the boathouse because we did not have any electronics and we got to play new games while watching beautiful scenery and eating boat food.

I went to lots of temples that were grand. My favorite temples are, Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple in Trivandrum, Sivalayam in Kakinada, Gollalamamida temple near Rajahmundry and the Iskcon temple in Rajahmundry. The Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple is nearly 5,000 years old and is very grand. I liked the Vishnu’s idol lying down and touching sivalingam. In Kakinada, my dad made us do a pooja. It was very long but worth it because we got to hear the priests chant slokas. The Iskon temple is blue and beautiful. I liked the unique, 3-d museum that is in the temple. I also stayed in the temple rooms when family members came over.

During my stay I saw many family members like great grand mothers, grand mothers, grandpas, cousins, aunts and uncles. They gave me lots of gifts and toys. I had lots of fun talking with them. I played with my cousins, which were Samitha and (baby) Kaushal. We played with toys, we watched TV and had lots of fun. Sometimes we had small fights.

I also went to several restaurants. I liked Avakai and Minerva. In Avakai my favorite food was Rava dosa and butter scotch icecream. In Minerva I liked poori. I also liked fingerbowl that they gave after food was eaten.

In conclusion, I had a great time in India doing fun things, meeting family members, sitting in a car’s front seat and without seat belt.

My Spring Break 2016

In my Spring Break 2016, I went to see Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon. We went with 3 other families - Korlapatis, Maddalas, Sahus. In this blog I will write about the places we saw and the things we did.

We stayed in Las Vegas on our way to Grand Canyon and on our way back from Page. I liked the lights of Las Vegas. The lights are so bright that you could see them from space. I also liked playing games in the Circus Circus Arcade. My favorite game was driving the bumper cars. I want to visit Las Vegas again but next time stay in Stratosphere hotel because its tower looks cool.

Camping in  Grand Canyon National Park was fun but very cold. At Campsite, we played lots of games like Bocca ball, Taboo, and Cricket. The campsite was very big so we had lots of space to play. One day we hiked "Rim to Rim" and saw the Colorado river. We wore several layers of winter clothes to keep warm but it was still cold. I liked Grand Canyon and I want to visit again but in a warmer time.

Antelope Canyon is a very beautiful place. We went on a truck to see sand carvings in the Canyon. Our tour guy took awesome photos. In the nearby Colorado river we did river rafting. The canyon and the water were beautiful.

We also accidentally went to Zion National Park, thanks to GPS in our Honda Odyssey. We drove through a big tunnel and saw several big horn sheep.

Overall, the spring break was fun!
