My Yellowstone Trip

This blog post is about my awesome trip to Yellowstone. I'll remember this trip for seeing hot springs, animals, waterfalls, for going on hikes, for campsite games and for having fun with Abhay, Kaushik, and Nihitha.

A volcano under Yellowstone National Park "powers Yellowstone's  geysers, hot springs, mud pots, and steam vents." Geysers are hot springs that eject water. Mudpots are hot springs containing a small amount of acid water. Steam vents are are also hot springs but they don't have enough water to erupt. I like mid way geyser basin becase it is very beautiful. The different colors formed by bacteria make this place beautiful. I learned that some microorganisms can live in very hot water.

Yellowstone has lots of cool animals such as grizzly bear, black bear, elk, bison, chipmunks, and antelopes. I like grizzly bear because it has a hump. I learned that bears steal food from wolves. We woke up early to go see animals. We also wanted to see wolves and moose but we did not see them. It was hilarious to see bisons crossing streets and fun to watch chipmunks standing when they are sprayed sun scream lotion.

Yellowstone National Park also has some very beautiful waterfalls. We saw hidden falls, upper falls, lower falls, and fairy falls. We needed to hike to see the waterfalls. I like hidden falls because it is big. I learned that lot of water in Yellowstone comes from melting snow. I also learned that waterfalls in Yellowstone are due to volcano shifting the ground.

I went on a hike to inspiration point, Uncle Tom's trail, artist point, fairy falls, and hidden falls and saw beautiful scenery, waterfalls and animals. It is hard to walk lots of miles and go up and down the hills and rocks. But, it was also fun because we talked and took turns to lead the group on hikes. I like Uncle Tom's trail because we walked lots of steps up and down the staircase and saw a colorful rainbow. It was fun using my new water bag on hikes. I drank a lot of water and went to restroom a lot of times. We saw a black bear cub on the way from inspiration point and I was scared.

We stayed in two campsites for eight days and we had lots of fun. We played bocca ball, horseshoe, and badminton. At night and in the morning we had campfire to keep ourselves warm. I liked playing bocca ball because I won a few times. I also liked starting campfire using match sticks. We celebrated Nihitha's 4th birthday at the campsite.

We drove over 1,000 miles to get to Yellowstone and along the way we stayed in two hotels. To keep ourselves entertained, we played car games and watched iPad and T.V.

I had an awesome time at Yellowstone and I want to go back. Click here for a short video on my Yellowstone trip.
